Description
You're bidding on a cool, antique industrial gauge - Vacuum Pressure Compound Gauge - manufactured Schaffer & Budenberg, Manchester, London & Glasgow. "Patent Nickel Bearing No. 4919202".Schaffer & Budenberg was originally a German firm that sort of migrated to Great Britain, setting up a robust factory operation in Manchester. Based on the branding, the gauge is pre-WWI, my guess is circa 1900.
Bezel is 7" diameter, 8" diameter on the back side and 2" thick. Bezel and back plate appear to be sheet brass, with heavier brass housing. Glass is still intact. Some scratch & soil to the face plate, and it looks like the tip of the needle may be missing, but overall still nice presentation and appeal - fonts and markings on the face have that sort of industrial revolution vibe. Some spotting, soil & verdegris to the brass. Note that one of the bezel screws is missing, but bezel is still securely attached. Some fun old brass plumbing still attached to the bottom, including a still working cutoff valve.
Fun piece - Please review photos carefully to make your own determination of overall condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
