Description
1995 Atomic Bomb Ends War WW II WW2 Saves Many Lives 1945 Enola Gay Stamp MINT!This is a poster stamp designed by Ray Cowdery and issued to commemorate the use of the atomic bomb in World War 2. The first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb, the Enola Gay, was piloted by Colonel Paul W. Tibbets and targeted Hiroshima, Japan. A second bomb was later dropped on Nagasaki. This led to the surrender of Japan to the Allies in World War 2 in August of 1945. The stamp is based on a design created for use by the United States Postal Service, but the USPS stamp was rescinded after protests from the Japanese government in 1994. (The original design denominated 00, the "History Denied" information sheet and the original order form for this poster stamp are shown for illustrative purposes only and are NOT included.) This privately issued stamp is a cinderella stamp in mint, never hinged with dry gum condition and is rouletted along the simulated perforations and issued over 25 years ago. It was not issued by the USPS and is not valid for postage.
SPECIAL BONUS OFFER: PURCHASE THREE OR MORE OF THESE STAMPS AND AN INFORMATION CARD AND A FACSIMILE OF AN ORIGINAL ORDER FORM (BOTH SIDES SHOW AT THE TOP OF THE LISTING) WILL BE INCLUDED FOR FREE!
This stamp would make an interesting addition to any collection of World War 2 memorabilia, United States or Japanese history or cinderella stamps.
