  • Condition: Very good condition with no cracks or chips. There is either significant paint loss of the black paint, or more likely he was made in this manner to make him look older. The inside is brown with black paint on the outside but not covering everything anymore.

    Description

    This is one of those pieces that has been driving me a little nuts.  It is a cast iron frog with a crown for the Prince Charming role.  He is sitting cross legged in a lotus position and is holding what appears to be a pineapple in his hands.  He stands 5-1/2" tall.  That much I know for sure.  Who made him and when he was made is another question.
    The seam between the two pieces of metal is not a simple straight seam.  He has black paint on top of brown, rust colored metal with lots of the brown showing to make him look older. The inside is that same brown though.  It looks like it was made this way, to look older.  The brown shows in places that you would not expect normal wear like rubbing, such as under the arms.  The screw inside him is visible from the bottom.  The head looks like a phillips head screw that the x part was filled in with metal so it couldn't be removed.  So this one looks like a newer item, antiqued to look older.  My other problem is, I can't find another one like him online.  I figured a cast iron frog prince holding a pineapple would be easy to google, but I've had no luck with this one.  Any info would be appreciated.
