This is an Eberline E-140 Geiger counter that has been upgraded with a solid-state replacement for the glass Corotron voltage regulator tube and a new silicon high voltage rectifier diode.  In addition, the original battery holder that invariably shorted out with alkaline cells has been replaced with a modern unit.  All work was done by a Nuclear Engineer.
This Eberline E-140 is branded Kay Ray but, other than that, it is identical to the ones branded Eberline.  The sale includes the proper probe and a probe cable.
The Eberline E-140 is a rugged instrument designed for laboratory or field use.  In addition to having replaced the regulator tube and high voltage diode, a Geo-Electronics sound card has been added to give audible clicks for each Geiger pulse as well as an LED diode that flashes for each pulse.
The instrument has a current pulse calibration.
This is a rugged instrument well suited for field use.  It is ready for immediate use.
