German Style Beer Stein, Very Large, Ceramic, Great Sayings, EUC. Condition is "Used". Vintage German Style Beer Stein depicts mountain scenes and a woman and man playing a lyre with large beer barrels in the background. There are two German sayings, "Ein volles glas, Ein braves Weib, Ein frohes lied Ernaelt den leib" means “A full glass, a good wife and a merry song sustain the body.”The other inscription is "Wer nicht liebt, trinkt u. Singt es nie zu Wahrer freude bringt" means “He who does not love drink and song will never achieve true happiness”. The stein is 9.5” tall, base is 4.5”, and opening is 3”. Stein is in great condition and holds an impressive 48 oz! There is some crazing of the glaze, which is indicative of its age. Please see all photos. The stein was made in Japan.
