Description

This historic brown note features Muhammad Ali Jinnah on the left on the front and Shalmar Gardens,  Lahore on the reverse. This note was replaced by a green note of similar design follwing the civil unrest and events of 1971.
The note features the denomination, promissory note as well as signatures in two languages which to my knowledge has been been seen before or since. This is rooted in the  profound distress the the Bengali population of the eastern wing of then United Pakistan were developing.
This note was later changed to a green note of the same design when Bangladesh became independent in 1971 and huge amounts of currency were looted from banks. This overnight development left not time to re-design the note so only the colour was changed.
This is a key note for collectors of not just Pakistan but also those collecting Bangladesh and other Asian or Islamic countries.
