-You are ordering this 15" tall, 7.5" wide, German, saltglazed, Westerwald, ring jug.
-The base is marked with the mold number "109"
-There is wear on the inside of the ring and on the bottom of the mouth from where the ring rests / rubs.
-Circular body features profile busts, various coats of arms, and flowers. 2 Prominent lions adorn the 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock positions on the top of the circumference of the ring body.
-4 lions at adorn opposite sides of the base.
-Fine details around the ring body feature vines, birds, faces, and floral patterns.
-Character handle features a man or boy with outstretched arms
-ergonomically designed handle allow
for easy pouring of this jug that with a low center of gravity.
-I have done a search to try to find the
manufacturer
of this piece.  It has similarities of many German, antique, ring jug producers like Gerz, Thewalt, Remy, Dumler and Breiden, and Marzi and Remy, but I cant find any documented sources which list this 109 mold number and its maker. In my opinion, it most closely resembles other examples from Reinhold Hanke, but again, that is just my best guess.  Anyone else have this one and know more?  Please message me if you are willing to offer up any information.
